Overview

Kraken Prop is the evaluation-based prop trading programme built into Kraken Pro, launched on 27 May 2026 after Kraken's parent Payward bought Breakout. Evaluations are run by Breakout Trading Group, LLC and bought and traded inside Kraken Pro on web or mobile, while funded capital is allocated by Payward Oceanic Ltd. Three single-phase plans, Starter, Intermediate and Advanced, are sold from $5K to $200K with the same targets, loss limits and fees as Breakout's Classic, Pro and Turbo. Funded traders keep 80% of profit, or 90% with a paid upgrade, and are paid on demand into their Kraken account. Kraken also runs a separate, smaller challenge called Kraken Funded in the main Kraken app, which is not covered here.

Trading rules

What Kraken Prop lets you do on its accounts, taken from its rules and FAQ pages.

  • News trading

    Allowed

Kraken says it places no restrictions on trading strategy; news trading is not addressed separately.

  • Expert advisors

    Not stated

Kraken's Prop pages do not say whether bots or API trading can be used on Prop accounts.

  • Copy trading

    Allowed with limits

Activation and payout reviews check for trades mirrored from another account or service, and for hedging across accounts.

  • Overnight holding

    Allowed

  • Weekend holding

    Allowed

Markets trade 24/7 and no rule requires positions to be closed; margin funding fees apply while positions are open.

Rules to read before you buy

  • The combined balance of all evaluation and funded accounts is capped at $200,000 per trader.
  • Each market has a maximum position size in US dollars, and orders that would exceed it are rejected.
  • After passing, the funded account is activated only once the Funded Trader Agreement is signed, Kraken identity verification is complete and a manual review clears, usually within 12 to 24 hours.
  • Breaches are automatic and final: positions are closed, trading stops and there is no appeal; a new evaluation can be bought at once.
  • Evaluation trades are simulated; funded trades may be routed to market or kept internal depending on the plan size.
  • Exploiting system errors or latency, copy trading and cross-account hedging can lead to a rejected upgrade or payout.
  • An email and country are enough to buy with a card; full Kraken verification is needed to pay from a Kraken balance, open a funded account or receive payouts.
  • Evaluations cannot be cancelled or refunded once the trading account is created.
