Forex prop firms that allow expert advisors (EAs)
Forex: these firms allow expert advisors and other automated strategies, so software can place and manage trades for you. Firms that allow automation only with limits, for example trade managers only or approval before use, appear in a separate group on this page. Even where bots are allowed, most firms ban certain strategies, so check the terms before running one.

Allowed with conditions
These firms allow it with limits, such as a blackout window or an add-on. Open a firm for the exact wording.
How prop firms treat expert advisors
An expert advisor is software that places or manages trades by set rules, originally on MetaTrader and now on several other platforms through scripts or an API. In futures the same idea runs through strategies on platforms such as NinjaTrader, and crypto firms may offer API access. Firms that allow automation let you use these tools on evaluation and funded accounts.
Allowed rarely means anything goes. Firms commonly prohibit high-frequency trading, tick scalping, latency or arbitrage strategies, and tools that exploit simulated fills. Many also act against identical strategies running across many traders, which can catch off-the-shelf bots, and some require that you own the code or can show it.
Allowed with limits can mean trade managers and risk tools only, a paid add-on, approval before use, or support on some platforms but not others. Before buying, check whether your platform supports automation at that firm, whether a third-party EA is accepted, and whether order or request limits could affect your strategy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a bought EA to pass a challenge?
Some firms allow third-party EAs, but many ban EAs designed to pass challenges and act when the same bot trades many accounts. If you did not write the code, check whether the firm accepts it and how it treats shared strategies.
What does allowed with limits mean for EAs?
The firm permits some automation but not all of it, for example trade managers only, approved tools only, certain platforms only, or use with a paid add-on. These firms are shown in a separate group on this page.
Do EA rules apply to copy trading?
Copy trading is usually covered by a separate rule. A firm may allow EAs but restrict copying trades between accounts or from other traders, so check both rules if you plan to do either.
