Overview

Apex Trader Funding is a futures evaluation firm founded in 2021 by Darrell Martin and based in Austin, Texas. Since March 2026 it sells one-time-fee evaluations in 25K, 50K, 100K and 150K sizes, with a choice of end-of-day or intraday trailing drawdown, and a choice between paying an activation fee after passing or a higher upfront price with no activation fee. Evaluations last 30 days, can be passed in a single day and are traded through Rithmic, Tradovate or WealthCharts. The funded Performance Accounts are simulated, pay out 100% of approved requests after every five qualifying days and close after the sixth payout. Older monthly-billed legacy accounts were also on sale as a limited-time offer on the check date and are not profiled here.

  • Payouts: a request opens after 5 trading days (not necessarily consecutive) that each make at least $100 (25K), $250 (50K), $300 (100K) or $350 (150K) in net profit.
  • The evaluation's daily loss limit ($500, $1,000, $1,500 or $2,000) liquidates positions and pauses trading for the rest of the session; it does not fail the account.
  • The EOD threshold is recalculated from the closing balance at 4:59:59 PM ET and enforced in real time during the next session. In the Performance Account it stops trailing at the starting balance plus $100.
  • In Rithmic and WealthCharts evaluations the threshold stops trailing once it reaches the profit-target balance; in Tradovate evaluations it keeps trailing the peak end-of-day balance.
  • The Performance Account has its own contract limit (2, 4, 6 or 10 minis at the top tier) and a daily loss limit that both scale with end-of-day profit.
  • Maximum payout per request rises with each payout, from $1,000 on a 25K account to as much as $5,000 on the sixth 150K payout. The account closes after six payouts.
  • The activation fee is a one-time, non-refundable payment due within 7 calendar days of passing.
  • A five-pack of the same evaluation lists at $2,250 (25K), $2,450 (50K), $4,950 (100K) and $9,950 (150K).

  • There is no daily loss limit in the evaluation; the Performance Account has a tiered daily loss limit and contract limit (2, 4, 6 or 10 minis at the top tier) that scale with end-of-day profit.
  • Maximum payout per request rises with each payout, from $1,000 on a 25K account to as much as $5,000 on the sixth 150K payout. The account closes after six payouts.

Trading rules

What Apex Trader Funding lets you do on its accounts, taken from its rules and FAQ pages.

  • News trading

    Allowed

A normal strategy may be traded through news, but two-sided or bracket orders placed to gamble on a release are prohibited.

  • Expert advisors

    Not allowed

Automated or algorithmic trading is not permitted; rewards are meant for traders placing their own trades.

  • Copy trading

    Allowed with limits

Trades can be copied across a trader's own accounts (for example with Tradovate group trading or the WealthCharts copier), but sharing or copying trades with other traders is forbidden.

  • Overnight holding

    Not allowed

All positions must be closed before 4:59 PM ET, and earlier for agricultural markets.

  • Weekend holding

    Not allowed

Positions cannot be held through the daily close, so none can be held over the weekend.

Rules to read before you buy

  • Evaluations expire 30 calendar days after purchase and cannot be reset; a passed evaluation must be activated within 7 calendar days.
  • Holding long and short positions in the same or correlated instruments at the same time is prohibited, within one account or across accounts.
  • Every trade needs a stop loss (pending or mental); using the full drawdown as a stop and strategies with tiny targets against large stops are prohibited.
  • High-frequency trading, exploiting simulated fills and non-directional bracket orders are prohibited.
  • Up to 20 Performance Accounts can be held at once across all account types; the background page states the cap per household.
  • Ten micro contracts count as one mini, and orders above the position limit are rejected rather than failing the account.
  • VPNs, proxies or other tools used to disguise identity or location are prohibited.

Inactivity: A Performance Account must record at least two trading days with $50 or more in net profit in every rolling 30-day period, or it is closed.

How the drawdown works

End-of-day trailing (EOD Trail, EOD Trail (No Activation Fee))
The loss limit moves up once a day, based on your end-of-day balance, and ignores swings during the session.
Intraday trailing (Intraday Trail, Intraday Trail (No Activation Fee))
The loss limit follows your highest intraday equity in real time, including open profit that you later give back.

Consistency rules

EOD Trail
None in the evaluation; 50% best-day rule on Performance Account payouts
EOD Trail (No Activation Fee)
None in the evaluation; 50% best-day rule on Performance Account payouts
Intraday Trail
None in the evaluation; 50% best-day rule on Performance Account payouts
Intraday Trail (No Activation Fee)
None in the evaluation; 50% best-day rule on Performance Account payouts
Profit split
100% of each approved payout on the EOD and Intraday Performance Accounts.
How often
A payout can be requested after every 5 qualifying trading days, which allows up to weekly payouts.
First payout
After 5 qualifying trading days in the Performance Account, each meeting the minimum daily profit for the account size and type.
Minimum withdrawal
$500 per request. The balance must stay above a safety net of the drawdown amount plus $100 over the starting balance, so a 50K account needs at least $52,600 to request.
  • No single profitable day may make up 50% or more of the profit since the last approved payout; the payout button stays unavailable until this is met.
  • Each Performance Account can receive at most six payouts, with a per-request cap by size and payout number; the account then closes.
  • US traders are paid by ACH direct deposit and traders outside the US through Plane to a local bank account in their country of residence.
  • Apex states that it reviews requests within 2 business days and sends approved funds within 3 to 4 business days, with most traders receiving them in 5 to 11 business days.
  • The general Payout Method Information page still describes an eight-day cycle with five $50 profit days; the newer EOD and Intraday payout pages use the five-qualifying-day rule recorded here.
  • Performance Accounts are simulated; Apex says it may invite consistent traders to a live account.

Scaling plan

Performance Accounts move through tiers based on the prior day's closing profit, which set both the contract limit and the daily loss limit for the next session.

  • 25K: 1 contract and $500 DLL below $1,000 profit, 2 contracts from $1,000, and a $1,250 DLL from $2,000.
  • 50K: 2 contracts and $1,000 DLL to start, 3 contracts from $1,500, 4 contracts and $2,000 DLL from $3,000, and a $3,000 DLL from $6,000.
  • 100K: 3 contracts and $1,750 DLL to start, rising to 6 contracts and a $3,500 DLL from $10,000 profit.
  • 150K: 4 contracts and $2,500 DLL to start, rising to 10 contracts and a $4,000 DLL from $10,000 profit.
  • If the balance falls back, the account moves down a tier but never below Level 1.
